I knew going into this Fall season that I had a very busy docket and some very large and challenging jobs. I had no idea how much harder it was going to be made by mother nature. In one stretch this Fall we had an Earthquake, a Hurricane and a crippling blizzard and while we weathered the first too pretty well the blizzard hit us hard leaving us without power both at home and work for over a week. Imagine the fun I had being forced to work from home with one generator, two bored kids and very primitive conditions on a weekend of a double wedding. It was one of the hardest weeks of my life, but we prevailed and powered through the rest of a very busy Fall wedding season with nothing but happy customers and fabulous results.
One of the feature jobs I had this Fall was the wedding of a child hood friend as he was wed under a stunning custom built chuppah that was one of the highlights of the season. You can see the gallery for that job and 9 others that I did this Fall and have finally been able to post on the Recent Jobs page which you can get to by clicking this link. I normally limit that page to 5 jobs but we had so many in such a short time I could not update the page fast enough and want to get them all highlighted. So if you had a wedding between October 10th and November 17th the galleries will be on the recent events page. The 2011 complete gallery page was also updated and more Summer jobs will be added to that page soon.
Overall it was a crazy, scarey and very rewarding Fall and now with a few days off for Thanksgiving I have my sites set on the C.I.B.S Holiday Gala which will be our big end of season close out job this year before I start to focus on the winter bridal show circuit. I want to thank a few people who made it possible for me to get through this crazy season. For starters, my husband and his more than handy skills of keeping us lit up and also for constructing some amazing structures for three different jobs this Fall. His business, Custom Ceremony Designs, not only saved my but a few times this year but also got international recognition as they constructed an amazing Lucite Chuppah for a Black Orchid Florist in the British Columbian island of Anguilla which will be used this weekend for an island beach ceremony. Also special thanks to Jessie Hernandez Photography who I had the pleasure of working with for the 3rd time this year and who provided me some great pictures of the Maplewood Country Club wedding which featured a faux Wrought Iron monster chuppah. Additional thanks to my great friend Dayna who’s brother was married in that beautiful wedding but also for all the doors she has gotten me into this year and long before. Looking forward to being a part of her new journey and wishing her love and luck in the process.
With the holiday season approaching I start to focus on next year and will likely not have much in the way of site updates until the Spring season starts to take shape. I will certainly update any shows I do on the site and will likely have a final gallery posting after the C.I.B.S gala next week. I’m already heavily booked for the Spring and really looking forward to the continued growth and prosperity of Where Flowers Bloom. It’s been an amazing ride so far and I’m thankful to everybody who has been a part of this adventure. Thanks to all the customers who put their faith in me, thanks to all the people who helped me make it all come together, I couldn’t have done any of it with out all of you. I hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving and a great Holiday season.
